CEE FACIAL INJECTABLE MARKETFig 1: CEE FACIAL INJECTABLES MARKET, BY SEGMENTATION

The key factors for the growth of the facial injectables market in CEE region include the rising aesthetic consciousness and number of cosmetic procedures, the introduction of cost-effective facial injectable, and the aging population. As the cosmetic industry is booming, there has been an increase in the total number of non-surgical therapies, such as injections of wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers. This trend is primarily due to the advantages of technologies, such as low recovery time, less risk of infections, no blood loss, and the overall reduction in procedural costs. Thus, the increase in the number of cosmetic procedures has spurred the growth of the overall market. In addition, there is a consistent rise in the geriatric population that helps to boost the market growth. Along with the aging population, the new generation has been attracted to the cosmetic industry to appear more youthful. Furthermore, technological advancements are also helping in the growth of the market. However, strict regulatory concerns of injectable products and side effects of such products such as rashes restrict market growth.

The CEE facial injectables market is segmented into two major market segments, namely; by product and by end user.

The product segment includes dermal fillers/injectable implants, and anti-aging/ anti-wrinkle injections. The dermal fillers segment is expacted to dominate the CEE facial injectables market in 2020. Dermal fillers segment is further categorized into hyaluronic acid fillers, collagen fillers and synthetic fillers while anti-ageing injections are divided into botulinum toxin A and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) micro particles. The hyaluronic acid segment dominated the market in 2019 and is expected to witness lucrative growth over the forecast period. Increasing application of hyaluronic acid in cosmetic industry is expected to support the growth. Hyaluronic acid was first used in medicine in mid 1980s. Currently, HA is the world’s most frequently used filler. It is among the natural chemical substances found in the skin and serves as a major structural component of extracellular space. When used in aesthetic medicine, hyaluronic acid is cross-linked which means it is subjected to a process aimed at prolonging its residence time in tissue. Hyaluronic acid obtained by bio-technology is characterized by a high purity and very good biocompatability. The European Commission considers fillers to be medical devices, and it is easier to obtain a CE mark than FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval. Many of the Central and Eastern European countries have high-cohesivity HAs, as well as very low-cohesivity HAs, that are not available in the United States.
